Sustainability

Things that matter to us: Sustainable action means using resources in such a way that the essential properties, stability and regenerative capacity of the system are preserved. We want to continue to exist as a company for a long time and therefore have a strong interest in enabling future generations to live with natural resources through our sustainable actions.

Plant-for-the-Planet

The Chocolate Museum Cologne operates climate-neutrally. By using green energy, biodegradable packaging, and supporting the reforestation project “Plant for the Planet” in Mexico, the museum achieves a positive carbon footprint. In 2020, the Chocolate Museum partnered with Plant-for-the-Planet to plant 33,000 trees on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico – removing more CO₂ from the atmosphere than it emits

Oro Verde

We focus on our own topics of chocolate and coffee. Therefore, we support the organization Oro Verde with €15 for each wedding held in our house. Through sustainable cultivation of coffee and chocolate, Oro Verde protects rainforests in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic and creates a habitat for plants and animals. Furthermore, Oro Verde trains and strengthens local farmers through its projects in cultivation techniques and marketing measures.

Foodsharing

As a catering business, we frequently have food scraps that we cannot process further. To reduce food waste to a minimum, we have implemented a foodsharing concept. Here we distribute the resulting food leftovers internally to our employees and their families.
